Extrema Ratio today released their first record, A Dangerous Method. This is one the weirdest and most extreme album I’ve ever worked on (the band consists of drums, saxophone, electronics and vocals). I spent a weekend in the band’s own studio, live recording all their tracks (apart from vocals), then we mixed it after the Covid-19 lockdown happened and sent it to James Plotkin for mastering.
I’m grateful to these guys because they brought me out of my comfort zone, tracking in a new (for me) environment with a limited amount of channels and then mixing a genre which isn’t exactly my cup of tea (no guitars or bass have been involved, even though we reamped the sax). As my first attempt on a impro/jazz record, I have to admit it came out pretty well!
